A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistans last thirty years—from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to post-Taliban rebuilding—that puts the violence, fear, hope, and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives—the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness—are inextricable from the history playing out around them.

Propelled by the same storytelling instinct that made The Kite Runner a beloved classic, A Thousand Splendid Suns is at once a remarkable chronicle of three decades of Afghan history and a deeply moving account of family and friendship. It is a striking, heart-wrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love—a stunning accomplishment.

Khaled Hosseini – A Thousand Splendid Suns Audiobook

Cancel anytime. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them. Khaled Hosseini, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most. To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world.

I thought it was quite boring. On its own this is a wonderful book, but compared to "The Kite Runner" slightly disappointing. Heartbreakingly sad, I thought the characters were well developed, but in the early chapters, before their lives intersect, I often found myself confused as to what was happening to whom and when. The story wasnt very what I expected-a more seasoned lady coaching a more youthful. I see the advantages and disadvantages of various societies, notwithstanding the improvement of a character. The story is around two ages of characters united jarringly by the deplorability of three many years of war in Afghanistan, where individual lives, their battles to make due, to raise a family and discover joy are horribly influenced by the genuine history playing out around them. For more than 3 decades, there was never a period when Kabul was altogether settled, where there not dangers of rockets falling in their neighborhood and dangers of psychological militant domineering jerks thumping on their entryway blaming them for acts against their administration or religious perspectives. Indeed, even in the best of times, when the Russians were not mistreating the Afghans, the War Lords inside the nation were battling each other for the privilege to oversee the nation; Osama Ben Laden was one of these War Lords and the psychological oppressor assault on the US has pushed Afghanistan into at any rate one more decade of war. This long stretch of wars in Afghanistan has caused up to 8 million of the populace to be uprooted to different nations, for example, Pakistan, Iran, Syria, and so on.
