Treasure Island by Robert Louis StevensonFor sheer storytelling delight and pure adventure, Treasure Island has never been surpassed. From the moment young Jim Hawkins first encounters the sinister Blind Pew at the Admiral Benbow Inn until the climactic battle for treasure on a tropic isle, the novel creates scenes and characters that have fired the imaginations of generations of readers. Written by a superb prose stylist, a master of both action and atmosphere, the story centers upon the conflict between good and evil - but in this case a particularly engaging form of evil. It is the villainy of that most ambiguous rogue Long John Silver that sets the tempo of this tale of treachery, greed, and daring. Designed to forever kindle a dream of high romance and distant horizons, Treasure Island is, in the words of G. K. Chesterton, the realization of an ideal, that which is promised in its provocative and beckoning map; a vision not only of white skeletons but also green palm trees and sapphire seas. G. S. Fraser terms it an utterly original book and goes on to write: There will always be a place for stories like Treasure Island that can keep boys and old men happy.
I Am Slowly Accepting We Are Not Meant To Be
That we were a mistake right from the start. We were wrong for each other in every way possible. What was supposed to be a chance encounter dragged on until the flames of attraction scorched us both and left us ravaged in the aftermath. We kindled a fire that both of us did not know how to extinguish. I spent so much time and effort trying to fight against fate and made you stay.
And slowly I have come to accept that I can only truly find my own happiness after I let you go.
I look back on the life that we shared, and immediately my heart feels an intense sense of longing. I remember all the nights that we spent as if the world was ours, as if we were the only two people in the world. I think that wherever place I will end up, and whatever situation I will find myself in the future I will always remember you as I look up at the dark expanse of the sky. You will always be my favorite person to write about. You will always be the story that I love to tell the people that I meet. You will always be someone who made a huge difference in my life. Maybe someone is already destined to be your better half.
You will want to achieve so many things in life that are just a little too out of your reach. You are going to want to go after so many dreams that are just downright impossible to reach. You were always taught that if you worked hard enough, you could do anything you set your mind to. But how do you work hard at making another person fall in love with you? Love is never meant to be something that you can just manipulate or bring about out of thin air.
But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever. I think we were meant to be but we did it wrong. Maybe everything was meant to be this way . Chapter 1 - Chapter 2. Also available on AO3. Leaving not much space for the wooden tables inserted between many of the aisles to allow people to sit and study.
